Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

107013 Ludwiczek – Senior – male dog, neutered, born ca. 2015, small (lies down only, which is why a more precise size cannot be given), weight ca. 8.4 kg, in the animal shelter Belchatow since 23.06.2025. The small Ludwiczek lies flat in the grass for now, where he feels safe. He is cautious, not fully trusting of the situation here with us, so we do not pressure him. Ludwiczek sniffs my hand briefly, does not lunge, does not growl, makes a brief contact, then turns his head away, and stays lying down. Agnes can sit next to him and stroke his back. Here he becomes a bit softer, also lifts his head and looks around a little. She trains with him, and he already starts to wave with the leash, showing some behavior. The little, handsome fellow needs time, patience, and calmness, which is naturally hard in the everyday life of an animal shelter, but Agnes continues to work with him, saying he wants to trust, but still does not know exactly how to do it. He is not aggressive, just unsure, without biting. His life here in the loud animal shelter does not suit him well; it stresses him, and he needs a quiet and loving environment to come out of his shell. What kind of home is this little one looking for? A quiet home without children, where there is a fixed daily routine, where there is not too much going on. He needs adults, calm people who can understand his small fears. We continue to observe Ludwiczek and report on his development. The leash still stresses him a lot, and it seems he does not know it at all, or he has had bad experiences with it. This should be practiced further. He gets along well with other dogs, and a confident only dog would certainly benefit him and serve as an orientation, but it is not a must. His pen is shared with female dogs and male dogs. DE·Show original

(05/2026 KW/WK)

About Unknown

What life with Unknown looks like

Unknown is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Unknown, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Unknown?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Unknown on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Unknown if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Unknown already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Unknown isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Unknown and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
