How do I contact the shelter about Unknown?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Unknown on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Unknown if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Unknown already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Unknown isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Unknown and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Mrowka - Senior - Female, spayed, born approximately 2016, shoulder height approximately 20-22 cm, weight approximately 4 kg, at Belchatow Animal Shelter since 15.08.2026. The little Mrowka is introduced to us - initially she is still a bit shy, looks a bit incredulous at the world. This then gives way, she stands calmly with us, observes her caregiver attentively and lets herself be touched. The little one is still quite new to the shelter, the situation is new, everything is new. After a short time she shows herself to be a bit affectionate. The shelter team reports that "Mrowka loves treats and can quickly gain one's trust and ear. She is gentle and friendly, has a positive energy and is not at all pushy. Mrowka is compatible with other dogs. She came to the shelter together with Trufla - probably her daughter -. Trufla has already found a home in Poland, Mrowka is still waiting...". We can only confirm the shelter's impression - the little mouse is very sweet, friendly, gentle - delicate in handling and does not push herself forward. A fine, dear, tiny female dog, we very much hope that she will leave the shelter before autumn/winter, a difficult time for all animals, especially for these very small ones with their short fur. Mrowka finds the leash still a bit scary and does not feel comfortable with it, this still needs to be practiced - but with a bit of time, patience and treats she will definitely master this quickly. Maybe a harness would also help.

About Unknown

What life with Unknown looks like

Unknown is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
