URGENT APPEAL

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Please share this appeal! This is a very urgent appeal for a strictly dog-free, cat-free, child-free foster home, available immediately, for Winnie the Cavalier x Poodle (Cavapoo). You need to be within a 3-hour drive of Sittingbourne, Kent. Winnie is 9 years old and came into rescue due to her owner being unable to give her the care she needs. As you can see, Winnie is as cute as can be, but after an incident where she suddenly flew at the foster carer's dog when guarding a toy, we need to move her urgently. Winnie is generally a loving sweetheart, but she can be unpredictable. She cannot be around children at all and she cannot live with another dog. Due to a medical condition, it has been advised that Winnie is not taken for walks on a lead, so she needs a foster home with a large, flat, easily accessible garden direct from the home. Although Winnie needs a home without dogs and cats, she is very good around her current foster carer's chickens, sheep and other livestock. A quiet, rural home with a big garden would be perfect for her. Winnie with chickens We will arrange transport to Winnie’s new foster home. It needs to be within 3 hours' drive of Sittingbourne. Please only offer if your home is a good match for Winnie’s needs and if you will be able to get forms filled in quickly and have a homecheck straight away. If you have any holiday coming up this year, this won’t work for fostering Winnie. Winnie arrived in foster very overweight and you must be committed to helping her lose weight, and only feeding her dog food. She must not be given human food/titbits as this encourages her to resource-guard and snatch without warning. Winnie when she first arrived in foster She has been x-rayed and found to have hip dysplasia and she also has a lot of back pain. She has been prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatories, with very gentle exercise. She must be kept trim to help her hips and spine. Her heart is very good. Winnie uses a raised feeding station to protect her back and she has a special orthopaedic harness. Although we are initially seeking a foster home, we would be very happy to hear from anyone wanting to foster Winnie with a view to adopting her. Could you offer Winnie a child-free, dog-free, cat-free foster home? —————————— If you could offer Winnie a suitable foster home, within 3 hours of Sittingbourne, please contact us ASAP, as follows: Email: Oldies Club will arrange transport to the foster home and will cover the cost of any medical care Winnie need while she is in foster. About URGENT APPEAL

What life with URGENT APPEAL looks like

URGENT APPEAL is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting URGENT APPEAL, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about URGENT APPEAL?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw URGENT APPEAL on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt URGENT APPEAL if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is URGENT APPEAL already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if URGENT APPEAL isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know URGENT APPEAL and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
