Uwe

Male · Adult · 4 years

Fuzzy and cuddly Uwe doesn't know how he's still living in the animal shelter. He's a small puppy, very young, somewhat resembling a polar fox, and a little mini akita🐺. Every day he makes tiny progress and carefully watches us, hoping that today we'll take him for a walk with someone who wants to get to know him... Uwe is an inquisitive, attentive puppy and ready to be friends with people (something tasty is an extra advantage) - recently he discovered the pleasure of being petted on the belly ☺️. At first, he was overwhelmed by the crowd, noise and the unfamiliarity of the place he found himself in, but he pays less and less attention to it. He prefers to encourage us to play in the yard or run off for a walk without paying attention to anything else - after all, since he learned to walk on a leash, he enjoys discovering the scents of the world and new paths during their joint walks. However, these are just short moments of happiness - Uwe is usually seen behind the bars. Together with him, we're looking for someone who wants to take him home! Uwe will find himself in a quiet neighborhood - somewhere where there's not much street traffic, but there is greenery, space, and in the house people are open to spending time outdoors!

Razem z nim wypatrujemy kogoś, kto zechce zabrać go ze sobą do domu! Uwe odnajdzie się w spokojnej okolicy - gdzieś, gdzie nie ma dużego ruchu ulicznego, za to jest zielono, przestrzennie, a w domu ludzie są nastawieni na spędzanie czasu na świeżym powietrzu! About Uwe

What life with Uwe looks like

Uwe is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs leash training, shy with crowds and unfamiliar places

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Uwe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Uwe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Uwe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Uwe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Uwe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Uwe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Uwe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
