Venus

Female · Adult · 4 years

This little lady has been named Venus by us. She was found all alone on the street and not picked up by her owner. When she first arrived at the shelter, Venus was very shy. Meanwhile, her curious side has emerged and she always comes to visit when we stand in front of her cage. This young lady, about 4 months old, is now looking for a cozy household with daily rabbit activities such as digging, making binkies and occasionally a nice bunny flop. Of course, this is much more fun to do with a partner, so a sweet, neutered rabbit man is also a must. Who falls for the looks of our beautiful Venus?

NL·Show original

About Venus

What life with Venus looks like

Venus is a small adult rabbit waiting at Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden in Leiden.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Venus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Venus?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Venus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Venus if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Venus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden directly what is included and what Venus still needs.
What happens if Venus isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Venus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
