Adopt Venus

English Bulldog · Female · Adult · 4 years

Venus can live with children 5+. She could live with another dog but no cats or small animals. Venus is the sweetest little lady who sadly arrived into our care as a stray in a very bad state. Venus needed immediate veterinary care and a ton of TLC to get her comfortable. Venus has been seen by our vets on many occasions, and also needed regular baths in a medicated shampoo – she has remained the best little patient and has taken it all in her stride! In wonderful news, Venus now seems to be thriving and is very much ready to begin her journey to a new home. Venus is a lively little lassie who is very people orientated. She enjoys being out on her walks though, typical Frenchie, will let you know when has had enough by simply stopping and refusing to walk any further. She also enjoys chasing a ball but her favourite thing to do is have a snuggle on the sofa! Venus is just a delightful and affectionate little girl who adores being the centre of her human’s world. Venus would love to find a home where she will have company a lot of the time and a warm person to snuggle up to! Venus arrived to us with substantial skin and ear issues. She requires daily medication to control these ailments. Further details will be discussed with the successful family but potential rehomers should be aware this will be considered a pre-existing condition and therefore not covered by future insurance policies.

About Venus

What life with Venus looks like

Venus is a small adult english bulldog dog waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Venus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Venus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Venus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Venus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Venus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Venus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Venus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
