Adopt Veronika

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Veronika is a gentle and affectionate female dog who has arrived in her adult years. She was rescued from a kill shelter and now lives safely in a shelter in Romania with our animal rescuer. Despite her difficult past, she is a friendly, people-oriented female dog who always tries to please her people. Veronika is very focused on her trusted people and shows herself to be calm and balanced. She is attentive and responds well to her people. Due to her pronounced hunting instinct, she should ideally be securely managed in her future home so that her energy can be directed into more organized channels. When our board visited the shelter in person at the end of April 2026, we unfortunately had to note that Veronika has gained significant weight. This is likely due to limited movement in the shelter as well as the availability of food at any time. We hope very much that Veronika will soon find her perfect home where she will receive enough exercise and mental stimulation, allowing her to return to a healthy lifestyle and a normal figure. With much love and patience, Veronika will become a loyal and loving companion. She is seeking a home where she will receive safety, attention, and care—and the chance to finally bloom fully.

About Veronika

What life with Veronika looks like

Veronika is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glückshunde Schweiz in Glueckshunde.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Veronika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Veronika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glückshunde Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Veronika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Veronika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glückshunde Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Veronika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Veronika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glückshunde Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Veronika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
