Vicky &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Vicky was adopted from her foster home in 97199 Ochsenfurth. Many thanks for your trust. Vicky is 6 years old (as of October 2025), and she is a playful mix of Dackel and Podenco (and who knows what else might be in her genes!) – a gene pool that could hardly be more interesting. The world-wise female dog wandered alone through a nearby village on short legs, and luckily, she met a kind lady there who tried everything to protect the lonely female dog from traffic, animal abusers, and dog catchers. At first, she fed Vicky, and later, the grateful female dog was allowed to stay with her during bad weather, and sometimes, one could see the two friends walking together. For the two ladies, nothing would have been more beautiful than to stay together, but Vicky’s rescuer is employed and cannot keep dogs, and so Vicky came to the small Refugio Kimba, into the care of our partners. Vicky is a loving and curious female dog, but she has had many bad experiences with people. Therefore, she needs time to build trust and form friendships, but once this hurdle is taken, Vicky is a loyal and clingy companion. We are looking for Vicky a quiet home with people who will give her the time to settle in at her own pace. Vicky knows how to use a leash and collar; she is happy to go for walks and has a friendly nature, but she needs some time to understand that she is in a safe place. If you are patient and enjoy going for walks, if you can wait for the day when a little dog snout snuggles trustfully into your hand, but then celebrate it and would like to stroke her ears as often as possible, and if there is not too much comings and goings in your home and you have retreats for our witty, ground-level princess, then it would be wonderful to hear from you!

About Vicky &#8211

What life with Vicky &#8211 looks like

Vicky &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vicky &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vicky &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vicky &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vicky &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vicky &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vicky &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vicky &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
