VIKTOR

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

VIKTOR is a little guy who was abandoned at the shelter because his elderly owner could no longer take care of him and no one in the family could take him back. When a cat 8 years or older arrives at the shelter, we automatically do a senior blood test to see how his kidneys, liver, and diabetes are. For VIKTOR SUPRISE the test showed that he was diabetic! We now have 2 little diabetics at the shelter right now, the little VIKTOR and Bertolt, both of them get insulin injections morning and evening. Fortunately, VIKTOR doesn't need as high a dose as Bertolt! But unfortunately, insulin is very expensive (63€ per vial) and now we will have to buy it every 6 weeks. Don't forget the glucose checks for each of the animals, every 3 weeks (when everything is going well) or every 15 days (when the glucose is bad). We still hope that someone will fall in love with our little VIKTOR because he is simply a sweet little cat, despite his 9 years he is still a kitten in his head! He loves playing with water, especially water jets! He follows us everywhere like a little dog and wags his tail! A real little love. Until we find the perfect family for him he is available for sponsorship in order to help us financially to be able to pay for his treatment and follow-up at the clinic!

FR·Show original

About VIKTOR

What life with VIKTOR looks like

VIKTOR is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie in Louvigny.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting VIKTOR, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about VIKTOR?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw VIKTOR on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt VIKTOR if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is VIKTOR already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if VIKTOR isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie early rather than rehoming privately; they know VIKTOR and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
