As if we’re things, goods, objects for chicken coops (poor chickens too, those hens), for estates (to guard the air and the stones), or for a chain—just so they can say they’ve “forgotten” a dog somewhere—not a dog, not a pup, not a little dog, but a dog. Hurry up and take us, because our fate is unknown. We’re in a backyard, waiting for nothing. We’ve already had two vaccinations, we’re microchipped, and we’ve received anti-parasitic pills. The lady volunteer—her name is this—is trying her best to keep us from being taken by just anyone. We think her name is Golden Volunteer, first and last name. She’s given us lovely names inspired by the art world. No, you can change them if you’d like. “The Six Siblings.” A name for a tavern. It reminds you of Greece from another decade. Well, those decades still exist—let’s go back, not forward! My dear friends, listen: If you decide to adopt, you’ll immediately have one of us—or me, Victoria—with our health records, our vaccinations, our adoption papers with all the stamps, our electronic health record, our microchip registered under your name, and a new name, if you’d like to change it. There are six of us, but soon there’ll only be five. A neighbor wants the sixth one for her estate. Oh my goodness. Are you there? Where are you? The boys’ names are Bruno, Vim, Victor, Buddy. The girls’ names are Valeria and Victoria. The village we’re in starts with a B. “Wonderful” Greek village where strays have no life, no future, not even a drop of water in the Greek heat.
