Vicky 9 months old, 15 kg. Imagine being born and before you even get to know life, the only choice you have is euthanasia. This was Vicky's beginning. She was only two and a half months old. A puppy with paralyzed hind legs, diagnosed with neosporosis. In the province where she was found, there was no one to take care of her and no money for the necessary surgeries. So, they took her for euthanasia. Two and a half months old. She hadn't had time to run. She hadn't had time to play. She hadn't had time to feel like she belonged somewhere. And yet, some people had already decided that her life wasn't worth continuing. Vicky was saved at the last minute. She underwent multiple surgeries and difficult procedures on her hind legs so that she could become functional. From the first day of her life, she learned to live with pain. She learned about veterinary clinics, tests, treatments, and anxiety long before she learned what play meant. And yet, Vicky didn't give up. Today, she walks, plays, runs, and asks for affection. She enjoys every day as if she knew how hard she had won it. However, neosporosis will accompany her throughout her life. She will need regular tests, titer measurements, and constant monitoring. We can't know how many years she will live or how her condition will develop. She may not live as long as another dog. And some day, when the disease affects the quality of her life, her owner will need to stand by her side and make the most difficult decision. But Vicky is not dying today. Today she lives, runs, loves. And she doesn't deserve to spend the time she's won just waiting for her end. We are looking for a person who won't see her as "the sick dog." A person who won't pity her, but will love her. Who will know that their life together may not last as long as they would like, but will decide that every day of hers can be filled with safety, play, care, and true love. A person who will promise her: "I don't know how long you'll be here. But I know that for as long as you are, I will make your life worthwhile." Vicky doesn't ask for much. She asks not to live waiting for death. She asks, at last, to start living.
