Adopt Vito

Male · Young · 3 years

Vito is currently in a foster home in 76863 Herxheimweyher, born around October 2022, standing about 68cm tall. Compatibility: Male dogs and female dogs, cats and children have not been tested yet. Vito is a relatively young, handsome, wonderful Galgo Español who, like many Galgos in Spain, was sorted out by hunters. He is now looking for a loving home where he can be given time to settle in and build trust, and where he can experience the world. At the foster home, he quickly adjusted well, showing himself to be friendly and social, getting along well with the two other dogs in the household. Initially cautious in contact with humans, he now enjoys cuddles and sometimes even asks for them politely and gently. He knows the daily routines well and follows them. For example, on the second day, he noticed that the neighbor comes to the garden fence at the same time every morning, offering him a treat then. 😉 He has already had many new experiences and learned that, for instance, frogs in Germany are not suitable for eating. 😉 He does not necessarily enjoy car rides but sees them as a necessary evil since something great always follows after a car ride, such as running off-leash on a fenced property with the Galgo from his foster home. Vito walks nicely on a leash during long walks, enjoying sniffing and exploring the world through his nose and eyes. Vito would be happy to receive visitors so he can introduce himself in nature and show his personality and charm. Anyone seeking a quiet, gentle companion who will be shown the world with patience and empathy will find him a loyal friend for life. Vito is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered, and has been checked by a vet. Additionally, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and will bring an EU vaccination passport to his new home. We have put together all the pictures we have of Vito into a slideshow above on the page. Take your time to look through the images, or click on them to see the next picture. Contact:.

Kontakt: Julia Streitl 01 77 – 21 16 44 7

About Vito

What life with Vito looks like

Vito is a young adult dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
