After several failed adoptions, we had almost given up hope for Vito. Yet we also learn a great deal about our dogs from these experiences. Vito is a wonderful companion on walks, gets along well with many other dogs here at the shelter, and can be cooperative and eager to learn—up to a certain point. However, handling body parts (such as examining ears or paws), setting boundaries through body language, and veterinary visits reveal a different side of Vito, who in these situations may bite with intent to cause injury. During such situations, Vito wears a muzzle that he knows and accepts. In an in-depth consultation, we would be happy to discuss Vito’s personality in detail. Unfortunately, additional forms of aggression emerge in a home environment: Vito guards spaces and resources, and even views humans as resources to be defended. Therefore, we are seeking exclusively a single person—preferably male—with experience for Vito. Not just general dog experience, but specific experience handling aggressive dogs. This animal has a history of biting.

Nach mehreren gescheiterten Vermittlungen haben wir die Hoffnung für Vito fast aufgegeben. Doch wir lernen auch aus diesen Vermittlungen viel über unsere Hunde. Vito ist ein toller Begleiter auf Spaziergängen, läuft bei uns mit vielen anderen Hunden zusammen und kann sich kooperativ und lernwillig geben. Bis zu einem gewissen Punkt. Manipulation an Körperteilen (Ohren- oder Pfoten ansehen), körpersprachlich Grenzen setzen und Tierarztbesuche zeigen einen anderen Vito, der dann auch mit Beschädigungsabsicht beißt. In diesen Situationen trägt Vito einen Maulkorb, den er kennt und akzeptiert. Bei einem ausführlichem Beratungsgespräch können wir gern ausführlich auf Vito´s Charakter eingehen. In einem häuslichem Umfeld kommen leider weitere Aggressionsformen dazu. Räume und Ressourcen werden verteidigt und er nimmt auch den Mensch als Ressource. Daher suchen wir für Vito ausschließlich eine alleinstehende Person, gern männlich, mit Erfahrung. Nicht nur mit Hundeerfahrung, sondern mit Erfahrung im Umgang mit aggressiven Hunden.
