Vito

Male · Adult · 4 years

How the band Bitamina sang: "I will build you a house, you will have a shelter, such a hut in the noise." That's exactly the place on Earth we are looking for our new ward - Vito! Vitek is still getting to know us, but we already know he is a cute, sensitive little dog. At first, he was very scared of the shelter's reality, which doesn't surprise us at all. As soon as we entered the crate to take him for a walk, Vito hid in the hut. Even treats didn't motivate our little one. After the walks, Vitek would protest in front of the crate, not wanting to go inside. Perhaps our ward was previously a yard dog, for whom enclosed spaces are something new. As for Vito's past, we also suspect that he was a poorly treated dog by people, which explains his withdrawal and fear of human touch. Fortunately, we quickly managed to overcome this. Every day we show Vito that not everyone has bad intentions towards him, and he rewards us with increasing trust. He himself seeks our support and enjoys being petted, he likes to be in our company. On a leash, Vito handles very well, does not pull and calmly walks without rushing towards other dogs. Sometimes he gets scared by a loud noise or sudden movement. In close relationships with other dogs, Vito seems still unsure, which we intend to work on, and the future caregiver should also take this into account. Vitek is just beginning to gain skills in canine communication, but we see that his attitude towards members of his own species is positive. He can walk in the company of other dogs, which gives him courage. If you have a little space in your heart for a small, shy puppy who will gladly explore the world by your side - don't hesitate, meet Vito!

About Vito

What life with Vito looks like

Vito is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Fear-based anxiety, needs patient rehabilitation from past trauma

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
