Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Name: VittoriaBorn around May 2024Gender: Female, spayedBreed: Mixed breed (likely Border Collie mix)Height: Approximately 55 cmFoster Home: On June 20, 2026, Vittoria was able to move to a wonderful foster home in Wuppertal. The age figures provided here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details, such as height, are subjective.Despite her lovely appearance, this sweet dog has been able to travel to a foster home. Now she can finally settle in and recover. It will take some time before her foster carer can provide an initial description of her. As soon as we learn more about her personality, we’ll share a detailed text….and here’s the text from the foster home 🙂Juna was sitting fearfully in the municipal shelter Bucov in Romania, where 4,500 dogs are kept in overcrowded, filthy kennels that they never leave. Thanks to the association ProDogRomania e.V. (Prodogromania.de), which runs the shelter and records the dogs, Juna was spotted. And thanks to the association TSV Second Chance Dogs e.V., she was able to come to us for foster care in June. In the three weeks since her arrival, the frightened bundle has transformed into a dog who is still cautious but already quite curious and relaxed.Juna gets along well with both two-legged and four-legged companions, is house-trained, walks nicely on both short and long leashes, and travels calmly in the car crate. She enjoys walks and can run freely on a long line in safe terrain. In familiar dog company, she’s starting to show initial signs of playfulness. She also handled her vet visit very bravely. We’re looking for a calm home with confident people who can continue to guide her with patience. An environment-safe first dog and/or regular social interactions with other dogs would be beneficial for Juna. Children should be old enough to understand the importance of giving her space when she needs it.This is what the volunteers on site wrote about this little lady: “This dog was lying in the hut when we entered the kennel. She behaved reservedly inside and showed little interest in us. When we tested her reaction with our ‘wrong’ hand—meaning the one she wouldn’t normally use if cornered—she didn’t display any defensive behavior, allowing us to pet her without any problems. However, she didn’t really enjoy it and mostly seemed preoccupied with figuring out how best to get out of the situation. What we don’t know… compatibility with cats, children, car rides, house training, leash manners… We don’t place perfect dogs—we offer surprise packages….And we’re looking for people who are ready to embark on the adventure of adopting a dog from abroad and giving them a second chance at a responsible home.If you’re interested in this wonderful dog, please fill out the adoption inquiry form or give us a call at the phone number provided. About Vittoria

What life with Vittoria looks like

Vittoria is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vittoria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vittoria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vittoria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vittoria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vittoria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vittoria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vittoria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
