Wafelek is a little senior dog who very much needs a calm, aware home. He weighs very little and when we pick him up, it feels like we are holding a fragile being that has always managed on its own. He is a dog with signs of dementia. Sometimes he drifts off into his quiet world, and sometimes he stands still for a moment in thought. However, he still reacts to people. He approaches when he feels a gentle touch, snuggles into the hand, and joyfully greets the bowl. He loves treats and food, and on walks surprises with a bold step. He calmly treads ahead, as if each small walk was an important ritual for him. Wafelek gets along very well with other dogs. He doesn't seek conflicts, doesn't dominate, rather stays to the side. He needs silence, predictability, and a person who will kindly accept his pace. Everything points to the fact that he didn't live in a home before. The state of his fur and general neglect speak for themselves. That's all the more reason we dream that the last stage of his life will be spent on a soft bed, in warmth and a sense of security. This is an adoption for someone who is aware and ready to care for a senior with dementia. For someone who knows that sometimes they will have to get up at night, that there may be moments of confusion, that patience and understanding are key here. Wafelek to maleńki seniorek, który bardzo potrzebuje spokojnego, świadomego domu. Waży niewiele i kiedy bierzemy go na ręce, mamy wrażenie, że trzymamy kruchą istotkę, która całe życie radziła sobie sama. To piesek z objawami demencji. Bywa, że odpływa w swój cichy świat, czasem zamyślony stoi przez chwilę bez ruchu. Jednak wciąż reaguje na człowieka. Podchodzi, kiedy poczuje delikatny dotyk, wtula się w dłoń, cichutko cieszy się na widok miseczki. Uwielbia mizianki i jedzonko, a na spacerach zaskakuje dziarskim krokiem. Spokojnie tupta przed siebie, jakby każdy mały spacer był dla niego ważnym rytuałem. Wafelek bardzo ładnie dogaduje się z innymi psami. Nie szuka konfliktów, nie dominuje, raczej trzyma się z boku. Potrzebuje ciszy, przewidywalności i człowieka, który z czułością zaakceptuje jego tempo. Wszystko wskazuje na to, że wcześniej nie mieszkał w domu. Stan jego sierści i ogólne zaniedbanie mówią same za siebie. Tym bardziej marzymy, by ostatni etap życia spędził już na miękkim posłaniu, w cieple i poczuciu bezpieczeństwa. To adopcja dla osoby świadomej, gotowej na opiekę nad seniorem z demencją. Dla kogoś, kto wie, że czasem trzeba będzie wstać w nocy, że mogą zdarzyć się chwile dezorientacji, że cierpliwość i wyrozumiałość są tu kluczowe. W zamian Wafelek daje coś niezwykłego.
