adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Waldemar has found a home! His story: We urgently need help for Waldemar! The sweet little guy desperately needs more love, care, and security – all our strength goes into his direction, because Waldemar deserves a permanent place in a life – love, cuddles, walks, fun. Waldemar looks at us with his sad, big eyes and we believe that behind this gaze and the cute floppy ears lies a sad past. But we don't know much about Waldemar. He is very shy, even though he tries to find contact. We believe that Waldemar hasn't always had an easy life – that's why we need to give him a life that transforms Waldemar's sad gaze into a happy one. Waldemar is about 40 cm tall and weighs around 17 kg. So he has a small to medium size, perfect for long walks, playtime, and mischief. If Waldemar finally finds his human or a loving family, his sad gaze will surely turn into a happy one – he will become content and confident. Waldemar is looking forward to learning the Hunde 1*1 and making beautiful shared adventures with his people. It's important that Waldemar gets time and patience. Consistent training paired with cuddles will make him a loyal companion. Would you like to give the sad Waldemar a ticket to a well-protected new life full of patience and security? His luggage is packed, he brings his EU pet passport, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Waldemar is ready to go, even a foster home would make him very happy! Thank you, Mario, for giving Waldemar this wonderful name and thus an identity. As of: 29.03.

About Waldemar

What life with Waldemar looks like

Waldemar is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Waldemar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Waldemar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Waldemar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Waldemar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Waldemar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Waldemar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Waldemar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
