Wełna

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 7 months

We've received Wełna, a cat who has been homeless her entire life. It took many weeks and a lot of patience to catch her. When we finally secured her, she was in very bad shape. Wełna was extremely dehydrated and emaciated, and her fur was covered in huge matted clumps. Everything suggests that the cause of her poor condition is a severe oral infection. Wełna's teeth were in very bad shape. The pain prevented her from freely taking food and water, as well as caring for her own fur. She is currently under our care and is undergoing diagnostics and treatment. She has already undergone a major dental procedure, which is one of the most important stages of her recovery. Unfortunately, it also turned out that Wełna's dental problems are not the only issue. She has been diagnosed with a serious kidney disease. Wełna has already undergone several weeks of daily hospitalizations, countless IVs, and a nasal tube. She currently has a tube in her esophagus because she still refuses to eat on her own. Her kidneys are in bad shape, so the treatment and fight for her health are still intense. Character We have to wait to get to know Wełna's true character. She is very weak and her body is spending most of its energy on fighting for her health. However, we can see that she is a very patient cat. She tolerates all veterinary and grooming procedures calmly, without protests or aggression. She doesn't try to escape, allows herself to be helped, and accepts everything that is necessary with great calmness. What kind of home are we looking for? For now, Wełna is not looking for a home. She has only recently come under our care and her treatment is still ongoing. She has a dental procedure and further recovery ahead of her. We need to restore her health and comfort first. When Wełna regains her strength and completes her treatment, we will inform about the possibility of her adoption. However, before Wełna is ready for adoption, you can support her return to health by becoming her virtual caregiver.

Wszystkie zabiegi weterynaryjne i pielęgnacyjne znosi spokojnie, bez protestów i agresji. Musimy najpierw przywrócić jej zdrowie i komfort. Gdy Wełna odzyska siły i zakończy leczenie, poinformujemy o możliwości jej adopcji. Zanim jednak Wełna będzie gotowa do adopcji, można wesprzeć jej powrót do zdrowia, zostając jej wirtualnym opiekunem.

About Wełna

What life with Wełna looks like

Wełna is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wełna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wełna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wełna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wełna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wełna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wełna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wełna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
