Adopt Whysky

German Shorthaired Pointer · Male · Senior · 16 years

Whysky is one of the oldest residents at our shelter, yet he hasn’t lost his desire to share and trust. Behind his gentle gaze lies an affectionate and deeply endearing dog who simply wants to find his place. Playful and dynamic, Whysky loves chasing balls and enjoying moments of companionship. He gets along well with his other animal roommates, whose presence can even be reassuring to him. He’s a social dog who enjoys interactions, as long as they are gentle. Because Whysky is also a sensitive dog, rough gestures or a too-rapid approach can worry him. He needs an attentive human who can read his signals and respect his pace. In a calm and predictable environment, he will relax and reveal his tenderness. A home without children would be preferable for him, with a gentle, patient, and kind person ready to offer him the stability he deserves. Whysky also has a heart condition that requires lifelong treatment. This requires a special commitment, but it doesn’t prevent him from enjoying life and forming a strong bond with his future adopter. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. This animal is for adult-only homes.

Read original (fr)

About Whysky

What life with Whysky looks like

Whysky is a senior german shorthaired pointer dog waiting at SPA de Besançon in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Whysky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Whysky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Besançon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Whysky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Whysky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Besançon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Whysky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Whysky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Besançon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Whysky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
