Izisz

German Shorthaired Pointer · Female · Senior · 11 years

Hometown: Hungary We have a DNA breed determination on file. The beautiful female dog Izisz was found in June 2020, wandering high and mighty and homeless, and brought to the animal shelter. According to the chip, Izisz belonged to someone at the time. However, since she had reportedly bitten another dog, proceedings were initiated against her former owner. Upon arrival at the shelter, the dog mother gave birth to 10 puppies almost immediately, but sadly, only one survived. The owner no longer wanted to take back Izisz and her offspring, and so the loving female dog got the chance for a new life. From the beginning, Izisz was friendly, attentive, and eager to learn. She soon walked quite well on a leash, was eager to learn, and wanted to learn more about the dog ABC and release her energy. Izisz had not yet experienced cuddles, affection, and a beautiful trust foundation, and she enjoyed it all the more! At the animal shelter, the lively and energetic little dog girl realized how wonderful it is when loving people visit, play with her, and offer her the opportunity to enjoy long walks in nature regularly (but due to the many other furry noses, unfortunately, far too rarely). Despite all the efforts of the caretakers and mentors, and as much affection and attention as possible, the beautiful Izisz suffers in the animal shelter. She often wanders alone in her enclosure, and it is sad to see how much she would love to explore the world with her beloved people and call a beautiful home her own. Izisz is losing weight, and we are very much hoping that the grateful and very active female dog will finally get the chance for an escape ticket. Izisz has spent 4 ½ years now in the shelter, and we are sure that it is never too late for a 10-year-old furry nose to start anew. If Izisz finds an experienced, patient, and nature-connected family, she will surely be ready to give her heart anew and bring joy to all. She would certainly be thrilled with daily long walks, sniffing rounds, ball games, excursions, and much more. She is very open and grateful, and she shows this with cuddles and "hugs." We wish Izisz a home in a rural area with an enclosed garden and full family connection. Her new people should give the dog lady enough time and space to adjust to the completely new circumstances, explore everything, and settle in. Since the dog lady does not particularly like her fellow animals, it would be at least advantageous for the start if Izisz could move in as a single princess. If the living situation of her new owners allows, she (depending on her needs and behavior) could also learn to know other dogs, and Izisz would be happy to find a playmate. As Izisz is a Staff-Mix girl, you should check with your community about their breeding permits if you are interested in her. We heartily thank Marie-Therese Fussen for taking over the patronage of Izisz.

About Izisz

What life with Izisz looks like

Izisz is a extra-large senior german shorthaired pointer dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Izisz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Izisz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Izisz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Izisz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Izisz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Izisz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Izisz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
