Willow

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Willow is a 4 year old collie who we originally rehomed as a pup from our centre 4 years ago. Sadly, that owner has been given notice on her longtime rental agreement and has been unable to find accommodation with a pet, so Willow finds herself back with WCAWG. Willow is used to being the only dog in the house. She meets other dogs very nicely, no barking or messing but she can get jealous over attention. We would prefer Willow to continue to be the only dog in the home. Willow has also lived with a cat before. A bit of chasing and annoying the cat, but also they would curl up with each other. So as long as your cat is used to being around dogs it should be fine. Willow is incredibly smart and affectionate. She will make the most wonderful companion for someone who is around most of the time. We will not take leaving hours longer than 4 hours for Willow. She is not destructive at all, she adores bed, but she also thrives in the company of her human. A secure garden would be an asset, but also not essential depending on your location. Willow walks really nicely on and off the lead, entirely dependable.

About Willow

What life with Willow looks like

Willow is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at West Cork Animals in Cork.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Willow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. West Cork Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — West Cork Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Willow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with West Cork Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
