Willy

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 10 years

Willy is a beautiful, incredibly sweet tiger cat with a white bib and white "booties" who has set his sights on breaking the world record for loudest purring - and he's got a good chance of succeeding! The ten-year-old boy lost his home when his owner faced an emergency situation and could no longer care for him. Now Willy is looking for new people to give him a quiet home and some time to settle in. Because at first the gentle kitten can be a bit shy, but our experience shows that he opens up very quickly to sensitive, reserved people. Willy's weakness is physical, as he suffers from a food allergy that must absolutely be taken into account. Additionally, he currently needs an injection once a month, which could be financed and administered by our association if necessary. However, we assume that this treatment will run out in the foreseeable future anyway. Also, dry food is taboo for Willy, as dehydrated food puts too much strain on his kidneys. This means that his new people must show a lot of discipline when it comes to Willy's diet. Exceptions are not allowed under any circumstances, because what he can't tolerate makes the cat sick! As compensation, his people are welcome to give him many extra portions of love - but only if Willy is in the right mood. He is very friendly and enjoys the attention of his humans, but no cat wants to be constantly harassed. The best thing to do is just wait until Willy comes over on his own and demands his petting. This will certainly happen very often. Willy has lived exclusively indoors so far. This should remain the case in future, if only because of the necessary food control! He would not mind a secured balcony, however. On the other hand, he does not want to get used to four-legged roommates anymore, which is why we are looking for him as a single prince. DE·Show original

Weitere Informationen: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

About Willy

What life with Willy looks like

Willy is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
