Wilma

Husky Β· Female Β· Puppy Β· 8 months

Introduction: Wilma is a gorgeous new arrival, settling in and undergoing assessment. She is a big girly and still growing, currently weighing approx. 30kg. Home wanted: She will need a home able to provide for her energy levels and she likes her mind kept suitably occupied too! Not fully house trained yet, not used to being left but travels well. Will require a home with access to her own secure garden and exercised in quieter areas to begin with. Behaviours towards people/children: She bonds very closely to people she knows, however can be shy of new people so likes the gentle approach to making friends. She is incredibly affectionate and playful with people she has bonded with. Would advise any children in the home to be 14+ but may consider slightly younger if used to larger dogs. Other animals: Wilma is social with dogs, however, still assessing whether she would prefer to be the only dog as not overly interested in interacting with. Previous history suggests good with cats. Will need to be cat tested before considering homes with a cat. Additional needs (behavioural/extra support): Generally lacks confidence around new people and new environments, so this will need supporting. Will require support and understanding through adolescence. Active breed so her family will need to consider exercise needs, plus vocal/chatty. Please research the breed character and needs.

About Wilma

What life with Wilma looks like

Wilma is a large puppy husky dog waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Wilma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
