Wilson

Dachshund · Unknown · Young · 2 years

WILSON Adoption fee is £400 WILTSHIRE 2 years old Male Dachshund x French Bulldog Not neutered Wilson is a loving and affectionate young boy looking for a patient and understanding home. He loves attention and being close to his people, and once he feels safe and comfortable, his sweet personality really comes through. He also loves playing with his ball and enjoys his daily walks. Wilson can be an anxious boy and may shake when he is feeling unsure or overwhelmed. He can be very barky with unfamiliar people and is also sensitive to things such as loud noises and unfamiliar situations. He will need a family who understand that he may take some time to feel comfortable and are happy to let him build trust at his own pace. On walks, Wilson can be reactive towards other dogs and may bark and sometimes lunge. He is an active boy who enjoys plenty of exercise, but his new family will need to be confident managing his reactivity and willing to continue working on his confidence around other dogs. We’ll provide behaviorist support if his new family needs any help with his reactivity. Wilson has significant separation anxiety and currently finds being left alone very difficult. When left alone, he can become very distressed. He will need someone around with him and a family committed to working on his separation anxiety slowly and gradually. We feel Wilson would be happiest as the only dog, although a calm and sensible older dog may potentially be considered following careful introductions. With the right home, patience and support, we believe Wilson’s loving personality will really shine. Requirements in a home for Wilson Someone around most of the time A secure garden Children 10+ Ideally the only dog, although a calm and sensible older dog may be considered No cats To find out more about Wilson, please contact Ipek at .

About Wilson

What life with Wilson looks like

Wilson is a young adult dachshund dog waiting at The Red Foundation in Pentlow Street.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Red Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Red Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Wilson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Red Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
