This handsome little dachshund absolutely adores his humans, and there is nothing he loves more than being snuggled up in a cosy blanket, enjoying a good cuddle with his favourite people. He is also incredibly intelligent, always keen to learn new tricks, and possesses a playful spirit that makes him a joy to have around. However, Henry’s journey before arriving at his fourth home has left him with some emotional baggage. He has some trauma in his past, particularly involving men, which means he needs an experienced, patient owner who can offer a predictable, calm environment. When he is tired, Henry can display resource guarding behaviours, which might involve protecting high-value items or guarding a preferred female owner from males. While he has nipped in the past, he is excellent at communicating his boundaries and always gives clear warnings, such as growling. His current owners have successfully managed this using positive trade-up techniques and careful boundary setting. Henry also experiences fear reactivity towards male dogs, but he is completely social and happy around females. In fact, he would thrive best with a confident female canine friend in the home to help build his confidence and guide him through life. With plenty of positive reinforcement, reassurance, and a structured routine, Henry has so much potential to blossom. He is looking for a patient, understanding new best friend who can see past his insecurities and give him the secure, loving forever home he truly deserves.
