Adopt Wolf

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Senior · 9 years

Wolf is a charming senior from 2016 who is gradually approaching his 10th birthday. Behind his tough Jack Russell personality is a little dog who greatly enjoys attention, rest, and company with his people. Wolf is kind and affectionate towards adults and likes to build a bond with the people he trusts. Additionally, he is a well-behaved dog who likes clear guidance and enjoys being involved in daily life. For Wolf, we are looking for a very quiet home where he gets all the attention for himself. Living with other animals does not work for him, and a family without children is necessary, since Wolf has a form of separation anxiety. He can also be quite alert and barks sometimes when he hears or sees something. Furthermore, some work still needs to be done on his housetraining, so his future owners must be willing to provide him with the necessary guidance and routine again. With the right expectations, lots of calm and a warm bed, Wolf can still have many beautiful years ahead.

About Wolf

What life with Wolf looks like

Wolf is a senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dierenasiel Gent in Gent.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wolf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wolf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Gent handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wolf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wolf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Gent will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wolf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wolf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Gent early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wolf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
