Wolf

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Wolf – a real sunshine Wolf is a very special dog. His nature reminds a bit of a husky – including a small peculiarity: his tongue is spotted purple in places. 😄 He is friendly, smart and sometimes a bit stubborn. Otherwise he is an uncomplicated guy. He wants to learn a lot, but life in the kennel prevents him from doing so. Other animals hardly interest him. Wolf is good and behaves well. He doesn't jump at people and is probably friendly to children. At the same time he is not a dog who constantly seeks the proximity of people. He has his own head and is still a really lovable guy. Unfortunately Wolf did not get the care he deserved from his former owner. It would be all the more beautiful if he now finds people who show him what a real home feels like. ❤️ Glück für Pfoten e.V. – The way to a new life – Tel. and WhatsApp: Mail: Adoption fee: € 490 incl. safety harness Since we are employed, we may not be able to get back to you until a few hours later. It is best to contact the above-mentioned mediator in writing (by e-mail or WhatsApp) first and ask for a callback (if necessary, do not forget to mention the phone number). Please be patient! Our protégés travel with Traces and are only placed in Germany (nationwide). If you would like to apply for a dog and live in a rented apartment, please arrange a written landlord's certificate that the keeping of a (further or new) dog is allowed. We place dogs, insofar as no elevator is available, max. to the 2nd floor to prevent health restrictions.

About Wolf

What life with Wolf looks like

Wolf is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glück für Pfoten e.V. in Dortmund.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wolf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wolf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glück für Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wolf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wolf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glück für Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wolf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wolf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glück für Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wolf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
