Xena

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 4 years

Xena is a Staffie cross weighing 23kg, born on 01/02/2022. She came to Windyway due to a change in her owner's circumstances, meaning they could no longer care for her. Xena is a beautiful girl who loves people, getting a fuss, and playing ball. She is good with children and other dogs. She gets quite bouncy when playing with other dogs, so could live with another dog providing it is as enthusiastic about play as she is and can match her energy! She walks nicely on the lead and is house-trained. She really is a lovely girl, she enjoys her walks and has plenty of energy, so an active home would suit her best. She's also a bit of a couch potato according to her previous owner and loves nothing more than snugging up on the settee for a good cuddle. Xena has had her 1st vaccination, been microchipped, and has passed her health check with no health concerns. She isn't spayed yet, but a voucher will be included in her adoption so she can be spayed at the right time in her cycle.

About Xena

What life with Xena looks like

Xena is an adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Windyway Animal Rescue in Macclesfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Xena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Xena?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Windyway Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Xena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Xena if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Windyway Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Xena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Xena isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Windyway Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Xena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
