Xtraordinary Xena

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

This beautiful lady is our Xena. Almost everyone who sees her thinks she is a mixed breed with a herder. But this smart picture is a mix of a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog and an Argentine Dog. Xena is almost 3 years old (born on 29-01-2023). Xena came to us as a stray and unfortunately, her owner did not pick her up anymore. Thanks to her chip information, we could find out more about her background via the breeder. Unfortunately, it turns out that Xena has had several owners. The main reason for rehoming was that this girl cannot stay home alone. Xena suffers from separation anxiety, which manifests in vocal behavior and pacing. Therefore, we are looking for a understanding owner who wants to work with her and help her gain more confidence and independence, so that she can eventually be left alone. We strongly recommend professional guidance. This is not a quick solution; a new owner must realize that a short errand is currently not feasible. Alternatives such as day care or a dog sitter are therefore necessary for now. Xena is also an energetic and cheerful lady! She may be a bit uncertain or scared of new people at first, but with something tasty or a game, the ice is quickly broken. After that, she loves playing and cuddling. Xena is an athletic type and can jump high. For Xena, we are looking for a house with a garden. She will not be placed in an apartment. Sometimes she can be a bit mischievous and likes to challenge you to a play fight, but she also enjoys working with you. During walks, she walks nicely beside you and seeks a lot of contact with you. She can sometimes be startled by things in her environment. Towards other dogs, she is selective; she can react to other dogs during walks. Therefore, we are looking for a situation without other dogs in the house. Xena has previously lived with children, and that went well. She can be placed in a family with children aged 10 and older. After all her wandering, we are now really looking for a permanent home for her, her "furrever home." Do you think you can offer her that? Please feel free to contact us, we would love to hear from you!

NL·Show original

About Xtraordinary Xena

What life with Xtraordinary Xena looks like

Xtraordinary Xena is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dierenopvangcentrum Breda in Breda.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Xtraordinary Xena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Xtraordinary Xena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvangcentrum Breda handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Xtraordinary Xena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Xtraordinary Xena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvangcentrum Breda will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Xtraordinary Xena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Xtraordinary Xena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvangcentrum Breda early rather than rehoming privately; they know Xtraordinary Xena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
