The little one, Yasha, was rescued along with her siblings and their mother from a kill shelter and taken in at the animal shelter. More information about how the dogs come to the shelter and answers to general questions can be found in our animal welfare FAQ. Our puppy rascal pack has so far shown the lively, playful nature typical of puppies. These clumsy little furballs are exploring their world, some a bit shyer, others already self-assured. Their characters will continue to develop over the coming weeks and months; at this point, only the beginnings are visible. If you would like more information about this furball, feel free to write to our placement team. Yasha is currently showing problems with her eyesight. This is being further investigated at the shelter. Our placement team knows best about her exact state of health. If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a message. Puppies should not have to grow up in a shelter. That is why we urgently seek a loving home or an experienced foster placement for this little furball – a place where she can discover the world, build trust, and simply be a puppy. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding everyday life with a young dog can be: once house-training is achieved, the "wild adolescence" often begins – full of energy, insecurities, and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that human and dog take together, with highs, lows, and plenty of learning moments. We hope for this furball to find people with patience, empathy, and perseverance – and with an understanding that shelter dogs often bring some history with them. How exactly they will react to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is certain: those who adopt rather than buy not only give an animal a second chance, but actively choose against animal suffering – and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adopting, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write to our placement team.

About Yasha

What life with Yasha looks like

Yasha is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Yasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
