Adopt YUKI

Female · Adult · 7 years

mixed breed neutered female dog, born 2019 | Height: 55 cm | Weight: ca. 30 kg | Children: no | Cats: yes | Dogs: conditionally vaccinated | microchipped, available for adoption This animal can be adopted if there is suitable space and after sufficient getting-to-know each other. YUKI is a mixed-breed female dog from a shepherd, Labrador, and Husky mix. YUKI unfortunately had to "give up" sending body signals to communicate with humans due to circumstances. She is insecure and needs support and guidance. Our primary focus is to enable her to build clear communication with people and give her the necessary security. We train her to handle everyday situations as best as we can, and the female dog now approaches two-legged beings much more openly – although she is still more skeptical around men. With the right support and security, she is well manageable and quickly forms friendships. When she has built trust with people, YUKI is a very nice, playful, and attentive female dog. However, new owners must be aware that YUKI must always be introduced to strangers in a controlled setting. YUKI is not a dog for beginners and seeks a home without children in a quiet area. Even though she behaves well during excursions in the city, the black female dog does not want to live there. She has reportedly met cats but is only conditionally dog-friendly. The female dog also behaves very well during car rides, and her secret passion is digging in tall grass.

About YUKI

What life with YUKI looks like

YUKI is a large adult cat waiting at Tierheim Dechanthof in Mistelbach.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting YUKI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about YUKI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Dechanthof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw YUKI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt YUKI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Dechanthof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is YUKI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if YUKI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Dechanthof early rather than rehoming privately; they know YUKI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
