Zack

Podenco Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Zack & Cody were found together, without microchip, in Los Monteros area, that has recently become a very common dumping ground for Podencos, we have already many Podencos from that area. We are guessing that it is hunters dropping their "not useful tools" in the area. At least they arrive to us alive, so we are happy for that. Cody is the more light brown of the two friends, Zack is dark brown. In the beginning, both of them were cautious about people, not scared and even not shy, but just you could see that humans did not mean much positive to them, but at the same time, they very quickly and very well related to other dogs, and they have been living together with different other dogs (mostly females) ever since. Over the months, they have both started to relate much more to humans, and by now they love to go for walks and engage with humans, whether it's for cuddles, snacks or exercises. Zack is an eye-catching Podenco-type of a dog, he has chocolate brown fur and a memorable face. He walks well on the leash, just that in situations that are exciting or very interesting for him, he pulls a bit on the leash, so some leash training would be great. Zack and Cody do not need to live together, and Zack potentially could even be an only dog, but he would be his happiest self if he could live in a home with at least one more other dog. Zack has been out for the day with one of our volunteers, and he shows that he travels well in the car, and is even patient when he is asked to wait for the human in a certain space. During the walks, he says hi both to female and male dogs politely. He most likely has not been living in a normal home before, and therefore still needs to be house-trained, but they are very intelligent animals and learn it quickly, where they should do their business and where not. Zack like all Podencos would enjoy to live near the nature, and home with a secure garden would be ideal, as well as previous experience with Podencos or similar breeds. At the same time, Zack is not a nervous, panicky dog, and we could potentially also see him living in a suburban or town environment. His shoulder height is approximately 49cm.

About Zack

What life with Zack looks like

Zack is a medium-sized young adult podenco dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΈAdopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
