Zana

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 8 years

Was taken in: On May 13, 2019. Zana and her sibling Zsil came into our care together with their mother from the Füzesabonyi Animal Welfare Foundation. A report was received about a dog seen sitting by the road between two villages. After thoroughly searching the area, three dogs were found in a catastrophic condition hiding among bushes and trees on a side road. The German Shepherd mother dog was literally bone and skin, she could not use her hind legs and limped out of the bushes. Two puppies were so frightened that they could only be caught with a trap late in the evening. The two puppies were terrified, they surely had only experienced torture and beating from humans until now! They were so hungry that they almost choked on the food given to them at the scene. They drank water for minutes. Zana is a German Shepherd type dog born around January 2018. Very shy, but longs for love. We don't know what her life was like so far, but her sad eyes and frightened little soul don't indicate much good. With proper rehabilitation training, she can become a super dog. We hope she will also have an Angel who will prove that life is beautiful and that one can trust people, a responsible own owner, an own family and home are the best things in the world! Zana is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed and can be adopted. Attention, the dog lives at the NOÉ Animal Shelter's branch in Szergény. You can inquire about her by email! More pictures HERE!

A vizet perceken át itták. Figyelem a kutya a NOÉ Állatotthon szergényi telephelyén él. Érdeklődni róla a email címen lehet!További képek ITT! A Tetszik gomb eléréséhez sütik engedélyezése szükséges. apiKey: 'f94a516b15dff4516ffa78eb8ba036f3076dfc68',

About Zana

What life with Zana looks like

Zana is a small adult german shepherd dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires rehabilitation training due to traumatic past; extremely fearful and requires patient, experienced owner

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
