ZARIA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Zaria, a friendly, affectionate, and curious young female dog, is looking for her forever home. Born in June 2024, Zaria has been living at the animal shelter since May 2026. She was discovered by a dedicated animal lover who had previously sought help from shelter director Kata for rescued dogs. The rescuer had observed Zaria on the street for several days but could not secure her due to her shy nature. Eventually, she gained Zaria's trust through feeding and managed to put her on a leash and into the car. At the shelter, Zaria was initially timid but quickly warmed up to the caregivers and sought out gentle pets. She remains reserved around strangers but gets along well with other dogs and adapts to her environment, as shown in various videos. Her interactions with a test cat were also friendly, although she seemed uneasy in the shared space. With patience and time, Zaria could likely be introduced to living with cats. We are seeking a home for this wonderful dog with calm, experienced owners who will give her the time she needs to adjust. She will appreciate long walks and cuddles, as well as proper training, which we suspect may require more effort due to her potential mixed breed heritage (shepherd or shar pei). Zaria is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has an EU pet passport. If you're ready to give this talented young dog a loving home, please get in touch! You can use the self-assessment form (or contact us via our website) to express your interest.

About ZARIA

What life with ZARIA looks like

ZARIA is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting ZARIA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ZARIA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ZARIA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ZARIA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ZARIA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ZARIA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know ZARIA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
