Zelda

Mixed Breed · Female

Zelda is a talkative, social and affectionate girl looking for her forever home with good outdoor opportunities. She is looking for a family with or without children where she can be the center of attention. Hello! My name is Zelda and I am a real chatterbox and affectionate cat. My previous owners could unfortunately no longer keep me due to a divorce that meant they could no longer offer me the outdoor opportunities I need. I am therefore now looking for my new forever home! If you want a vocal friend who greets you at the door and tells you all about everything that has happened while you were away, I am definitely the cat for you. I love cuddles, but I am a lady with my own opinions who likes to decide when it's time for cuddling. I prefer to lie close to you on the sofa rather than sit on your lap, but in return I love being patted on the tummy. At night I thrive best by sleeping alone, so the bed is yours all to yourself. When there are visitors, I can be a bit shy at first, but I will come out eventually to greet and can even allow some cuddles from the guests. I am a playful soul and value it very much if you bring out toys that I can catch. It happens that I use my teeth a bit during play, but it's just a cautious marking, and I never want to hurt you. You are allowed to touch my paws, and fur is also not a problem. I can also be lifted and carried, but I prefer to choose myself who is allowed to do this. I am a cautious type, and although I am not particularly timid, I am not a fan of the vacuum cleaner. Loud noises are generally a bit scary, but as long as I have the option to move away, it goes perfectly fine. Car rides are also not my favorite activity, and I like to hide when the transport crate comes out. But if you lure me with some really good treats, it usually works to get me to go anyway! Otherwise, I love being outside and hunting mice, and therefore I have a great need for safe and good outdoor opportunities where I can release my energy. When I'm inside, I love lying in the windowsill and watching the world outside while I plan the next hunt. As long as I have access to a scratching post or stand, I leave your furniture in peace, and fortunately I have no interest in tasting your plants.

About Zelda

What life with Zelda looks like

Zelda is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zelda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zelda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zelda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zelda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zelda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zelda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zelda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
