Adopt Zeus

Romanian Shepherd · Male · Senior · 9 years

Zeus is a beautiful Mioritic-Mix with a friendly, clever, and playful nature. Despite his time in the shelter, he has retained his zest for life and is very open and clingy with people. Those who get to know Zeus quickly warm to him. Zeus is an assertive male dog, but he does not seek conflict. He gets along well with familiar dogs, but can sometimes be a bit unsure around unfamiliar dogs and tries to impress them. Typical of a Mioritic-Mix, Zeus also brings with him the characteristics of a herding dog. Therefore, we are looking for experienced people who either already have knowledge of herding dogs or are willing to delve into this special breed and work with him. When Zeus and his brother from the kennel come out, it often looks as if two "Wischmops" are emerging – his coat requires urgent and consistent grooming. Brushing, washing, and the entire coat care routine must be slowly and positively built up and practiced with Zeus, as he does not particularly enjoy it at the moment. Potential adopters should be aware that coat care will be an important role in his future. For Zeus, we wish for a loving home or an experienced foster home in a quiet, rural environment with a house and a securely fenced garden where he can finally find his place.

About Zeus

What life with Zeus looks like

Zeus is a senior romanian shepherd dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
