Zeus

Male · 3 years

Hello, I am Zeus. I was secured for animal welfare reasons because my previous owners wanted to simply put me to sleep under some pretext and I am now on the lookout for a suitable home where my life is valued! I am a very loyal companion who can form an unbeatable team with the right person. I need someone who can give me a lot of stability and orientation in life. Would you like to know more about me? I like the idea of finding a person who I can accompany for my entire life. Once I have built a close bond with you, I will be a loyal friend and companion. I am a loyal, loyal type who can win over any Shepherd dog fan at first sight. I can perform basic commands very well and am happy to be motivated by search-and-rescue games. I am very eager to learn and am happy to learn something new. Therefore, I fit in well with all the leash walkers. I still cannot go quietly on the leash. I have a lot of energy that needs to be directed into the right channels. If I am led confidently, I can be led past anything and anyone without a problem. If that is not the case, I become insecure and may bark at approaching dogs, especially males – I simply need my right person who can show me how to do it with confident handling. Whether I can also be left alone sometimes still needs to be tested, but with some training, that should certainly work out. I wish for a loving home where we can build trust with each other. A quiet environment with not too many people would be a dream. I see myself more as a lone prince – other dogs are not really my thing. I am likely to be more watchful in my new home. Why I am your chance: I am a dog with a lot of potential who will become a loyal, faithful companion in the right hands. With patience and consistent guidance, I can unleash my full potential. Please plan several visits so we can get to know each other in peace and build trust. If you want to give me this chance, contact my animal care team or fill out the form below in as much detail as possible so that my caregivers have all the relevant information for placement.

About Zeus

What life with Zeus looks like

Zeus is a large adult dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires confident leadership, reactive to other dogs especially males, prefers to be only dog

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
