Adopt Zeus

Pit Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Zeus has already been with us at the animal shelter for a while looking for a new home. We are looking for an individual who has a lot of experience in their own husbandry with similar breeds and/or can provide training in the field of dog trainer. Zeus is not a beginner dog and his owners must not act naively. At our animal shelter, he has his trusted people who get along well with him. Manipulations are carried out safely with a muzzle. He needs a secure and competent person who can lead him fairly and firmly. In his territory, he has more difficulty if he senses uncertainty from the other party. You can't fool him, and then he starts growling and wants to make sure that you keep your distance. We would like for him an balanced individual, who in the best case does not plan on outside care, except in our pet hotel :-), for Zeus. He gets along well with other animals, but is not suitable as a second dog, as he begins to show resource aggression after a short time. It should be noted that he behaves differently in the animal shelter than in a permanent home. Therefore, we need serious and well-considered applicants who are willing to invest a lot of time in the adaptation process and who are willing to follow the instructions of the shelter staff. We would like for him a rural area away from too much noise, where he can enjoy his senior life. On walks, he walks well on a leash and can also be guided without problems in a social walk. With small dogs, he can show hunting behavior and perceive them as prey. Due to his severe arthritis in the elbows, he receives pain medication when needed, gets nutritional supplements, and regularly visits physiotherapy with the caretakers. If interested, please fill out the dog application form. Breed: Pitbull Terrier Weight: 24.5 kg Country of origin: Germany Location: Switzerland Gender: male, neutered Date of birth: 01.04.2018 At the animal shelter since:. This dog has a prey drive.

Rasse: Pitbull Terrier Gewicht: 24.5 kg Zuchtland: Deutschland Aufenthaltsort: Schweiz Geschlecht: männlich, kastriert Geburtsdatum: 01.04.2018 Im Tierheim seit: Juni 2019

About Zeus

What life with Zeus looks like

Zeus is a medium-sized adult pit bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur in Switzerland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
