Ziggy

Pointer · Male · Young · 1 year

Ziggy is a loving, sensitive dog with a big heart. The beautiful Ziggy with his blue eye was given up as a puppy. Now, after half a year, he's looking for a new home. Ziggy is a loving, sensitive little dog with a big heart. Once he trusts you, he builds a very close bond and wants to be everywhere with you. He enjoys cuddles just like being close to his humans. In the morning, he's more of a morning grouch - but in the evening, he often becomes active again. Ziggy has already learned some things. He reliably obeys the commands Sit, Down and Paw inside the house. Outside, he knows Stop and Wait. After the walk, he has a fixed routine: he waits patiently in the entrance area until I take off my clothes, then he lets himself be cleaned up calmly. We use a clicker as a marker signal. In quiet surroundings, this works well, but Ziggy is often too busy with his environment outside to respond. Ziggy is happiest when he can use his nose. He enjoys food-seeking games and nose work in the house. He especially loves cooked eggs - even frozen in a Kong. After breakfast, he usually gets a beef hide, which he chews enthusiastically or plays with. Chew horns and wood are also among his absolute favorites. He then proudly carries his treasures through the apartment. On an enclosed dog field or in a securely fenced garden, Ziggy can really flourish. There, he dashes and runs with great enthusiasm - especially when it's with his human. Otherwise, he doesn't like to be alone. His challenges: Ziggy is a very insecure dog and gets overwhelmed outside easily. Even putting on the leash is difficult for him, and leaving the house often takes a lot of effort. Once he's outside, he usually won't take treats because all the impressions overwhelm him too much. New people, cars, and unfamiliar noises unsettle him. He startles easily and then pulls on the leash. That's why Ziggy needs people who understand his insecurity and are willing to work with him at his pace. Relaxing is also not easy for him yet. Often he needs the proximity and support of his person to calm down and fall asleep. What you should know: Ziggy is a curious little rascal and likes to try things out. In the past, he has already nibbled on walls and chewed on fabrics like bedding. With suitable chew items and a correspondingly secure environment, this can be well directed. He barks rarely - usually only once during playful romping. If Ziggy feels uncomfortable or feels cornered, he makes it clear. He growls to communicate his boundaries. I don't see him as aggressive, but rather as honest in his communication. His signals should definitely be respected. If he feels strongly frightened or cornered, he may snap. That's why I'm looking for people who take his body language seriously, give him security and don't push him into situations that overwhelm him. For whom Ziggy is suitable: Ziggy is looking for a quiet home with empathetic people who enjoy giving a sensitive dog safety and trust. He needs patience, understanding, and time - but he rewards his humans with an exceptionally close bond, lots of love, and gradually more self-confidence. jQuery(document).ready(function($) { setTimeout(function(){ $('.boosted-elements-fotorama-8270bcc').fotorama(); Geschlecht : Männlich Alter : geb. 13.03.2025 Ziggy ist ein liebevoller, sensibler Hund mit einem riesengroßen Herzen. Der wunderschöne Ziggy mit seinem blauen Auge wurde als Welpe vermittelt. Jetzt sucht er ein neues Zuhause, da er mit dem Rudel in seinem Zuhause nicht mehr zurechtkommt. Ziggy ist ein liebevoller, sensibler, aber teilweise noch unsicherer Hund. Sobald er Vertrauen gefasst hat, ist er ein anhänglicher, verspielter Begleiter. Er kennt die Kommandos Sitz, Pfote, hier und bleib. Draußen kennt er Stopp und Warte. In neuen Situationen ist er vorsichtig, lässt sich durch eine sichere Hand jedoch überall mitführen. Zuletzt hat er sogar das Zug fahren gemeistert. Verträglich mit Artgenossen ist er je nach Sympathie, jedoch eher mit Weibchen als mit Rüden. Ziggi liebt seinen Menschen und hat ihn gerne für sich. Dafür kann er wirklich ein 24/7 Begleiter sein, da er alles mit seinem Menschen macht, wenn das Vertrauen da ist. Man darf sich durch die unsichere Art anfangs nicht beeinflussen lassen. Ziggi braucht definitiv einen Menschen, der ihm die notwendige Sicherheit vermittelt, da sein Verhalten davon abhängig ist. Er liebt Spaziergänge und läuft toll an der Leine. Hier wurde er von einem 6-jährigen Kind geführt und dabei gab es keine Probleme. Ebenso liebt er es aber auch zu kuscheln und braucht die Nähe seines Menschen sehr. Ziggi ist ein wirklicher Traumhund, aber im Rudel leider überfordert. Als Zweithund mit einer souveränen Ersthündin (die ihm körperlich gewachsen ist) kann es wunderbar harmonieren. Hier hat er eine vorbildliche Beziehung zu seiner Schwester, aber die kleineren im Rudel toleriert er nicht. Er ist KEIN Anfängerhund! Wenn Sie sich vorstellen können, diesem wunderschönen Hund ein solches Zuhause geben zu können, dann füllen sie bitte unser Adoptionsformular aus. Ziggy kann in seinem jetzigen Zuhause in 63869 Heigenbrücken besucht werden. Noch mehr Hunde suchen ein Zuhause... Oscar ist nicht nur Menschen, sondern auch anderen Hunden gegenüber freundlich und aufgeschlossen. Maya möchte endlich ihr eigenes Zuhause haben. Milly wartet schon so lange auf ihre Menschen. Mia San möchte endlich ein ruhiges Körbchen für sich. jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $('-studios-carousel-elementor-91a277c').owlCarousel({ itemClass: "tailwag-carousel-item", onTranslated: tailwagDisplayPrevNav91a277c, // breakpoint from 0 up // breakpoint from 768 up // breakpoint from 1025 up function tailwagDisplayPrevNav91a277c(){ $("-studios-carousel-elementor-91a277c").addClass("tailwag-carousel-left-arrow-on"); }

About Ziggy

What life with Ziggy looks like

Ziggy is a small young adult pointer dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. in Bad Vilbel.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ziggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ziggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ziggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ziggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ziggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ziggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ziggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
