How do I contact the shelter about Ziro?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ziro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Ziro if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Ziro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Ziro isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ziro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Ziro

Mixed Breed · Male

♂, born approximately 01.06.2021, loving, still shy Ziro is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix male from Spain who has lived with a family for many years and is therefore familiar with indoor life. Unfortunately, his owner never took him for walks and his 12-year-old daughter seems to have mistreated him. As a result, the small dog has not had a suitable life. The consequence is that he is currently afraid to go outside because he simply does not know how. With loving guidance, he will likely learn to overcome this with time. Our Spanish animal welfare organization was contacted with the threat of giving him up to a shelter, and they immediately took him in. He was taken to the vet, who diagnosed him with congenital visual impairment. Ziro has some vision, but not 100%, which does not affect him. Ziro is an affectionate dog who decides when he wants to be petted and then demands it. New owners should respect this. Ziro is compatible with dogs of both sexes and also with cats. Ziro would feel comfortable with older people who give him a quiet home and security. Ideally, there should be a garden because he has never known how to walk on the street and feels insecure on the road. Ziro comes to Germany vaccinated, chipped, neutered and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. He is currently in Seville, Spain. If you would like to give Ziro a beautiful home, please contact us using the following contact form. The adoption fee for Ziro is 580 euros. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix.com

DE·Show original

About Ziro

What life with Ziro looks like

Ziro is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
