Zoe

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

female Abgabetier/Freigang Born 11/2025 EKH neutered yes / [] no At the animal shelter since 18.04.2026 ________________________ We test every cat with a quick test for FIV ("Cat AIDS", info here!) and FeLV ("Cat Leukemia", info here!) and clarify the status. We inform here about the risk of FIP disease ("Belly Inflammation"). ________________________ The young cat Zoe was given up to us due to an allergy; she had only recently exchanged her private foster home for a new owner just a few weeks ago. She is a very trusting, people-oriented, and at the same time feisty, active, and opinionated teenage cat who likes to assert her own head. She wishes for a home with a lot of attention and stimulation and needs people who can handle her lively and somewhat moody energy. Zoe seems to have been separated from her mother and siblings too early, and the social deficits are clear: She meets other, very social cats very insecurely, excitedly, and even loudly confrontationally. However, we would like her to receive some "education" or socialization help through a fellow animal, so she can go through life more balanced and communicate on equal terms, play, release frustration, and get rid of boredom. This fellow animal should ideally be a confident, relaxed, and sporty young tomcat who also knows how to be a gentleman and not be chased by Zoe. Alternatively, Zoe could also move out as a single cat – maybe she would be open to befriending a playful, cat-friendly dog! Zoe should be given full access in the new home after a sufficient settling-in period to get rid of excess energy. We wish the sweet, self-assured cat that she finally arrives and experiences a lot of love, stimulation, and species-appropriate mental stimulation! ________________________ (As of 25.05.2026) (Click images to view in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal shows or develops differently due to changing circumstances both here at the animal shelter and in the new home. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Zoe

What life with Zoe looks like

Zoe is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
