Loki

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Loki (born 09/21) and we also have some questions for the round. When will people learn that you don't buy animals on the internet? Why do some people think they can decide a dog's life with a mouse click, even though they haven't adequately gotten to know the animal beforehand? Not every dog adapts to the given lifestyle. Would we give up our habits if it were required by a Tinder acquaintance? Now about Loki, the internet purchase obviously went wrong. And for a young male dog from foreign animal protection, who is already overwhelmed with many things at the beginning, time and professional help are needed. If you don't have that and are away for 10 hours, the frustration is great in every dog. And if you don't "understand" your dog because you don't see what he is signaling... then the so-called savior (person) is quickly disillusioned. Loki is a lovable and chaotic little guy. He is actually smart and eager to learn, understands what we want from him and is happy when he has done something well. But often he is also inattentive and impatient, and seems to go through the door with his rear end first because waiting is stupid and he wants it this way now. During walks he is usually calm. As long as nothing extraordinary happens. So when nothing is happening. Which is rarely the case. He reacts uncertainly to excitedly to different environmental stimuli. Either he wants to flee or run after. There is still a lot of work ahead for new owners, because he has strength. He should learn to trust the person, because he still tends to guard. So, whoever is not deterred by honest words and would like to become Loki's training partner under guidance, may make a phone appointment.

Loki (geb. Also nichts los ist.

About Loki

What life with Loki looks like

Loki is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Baden-Baden in Baden-Baden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Baden-Baden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Baden-Baden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Baden-Baden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
