Zoey

Mixed Breed · Female

Zoey 🧡 A dog is your most loyal friend. In all weather, heat, rain or snow, early or late, light or dark it makes no difference. Zoey is always available for our shelter. And always greets us cheerfully. You could say she is our longest (neighborhood) resident. Always to be found with a wagging tail and almost a smile on her face, "yay, there they are!" But after a bit of cuddling all daily activities continue. And this treasure deserves so much more in life. The shelter will not be the same without her cheerful greeting but we can't offer her that with a heavy heart. She craves more attention and love. Which we unfortunately can't provide her. We provide her with all the necessities but don't want to lock her up in the shelter because she is already so used to life before. But we are sure that sweet Zoey would be intensely happy with her own soft bed and people who care about her. It is almost 40 degrees here now 🥵 And it's not that far yet but the harsh winters here are the worst for her. There must be a nice spot for this fun cheerful bouncy thing by then? 🥰 Do you see your loyal little friend in this video? Write us a message, because Zoey is waiting for you with bated breath! 💕

About Zoey

What life with Zoey looks like

Zoey is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for Dogs Europe in Amersfoort/Vlissingen (NL-wide).

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Dogs Europe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Dogs Europe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zoey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Dogs Europe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
