Adopt Zsömle B

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

🐾 Zsömle – gentle, loyal and full of heart 🐾Zsömle came to us in April 2021 along with his brother Gömbi as a small puppy. Both grew up with us and were later adopted. For Zsömle, this marked the beginning of a wonderful chapter: He found a loving home with a particularly kind person – together with his best friend Joey. Three years they lived happily together, sharing their home, daily rituals, and a close, familiar friendship. But fate had other plans: Their beloved owner passed away suddenly, and both dogs had to return to us. Zsömle is the more calm one of the two. He is a big, gentle "teddy bear" who enjoys cuddles and likes being close to people. In new situations, he tends to be reserved and observant, always remaining friendly, patient, and sensitive. Despite his calm demeanor, Zsömle has remained curious and cherishes the small beautiful things in everyday life. He loves quiet moments, gentle affection, and a stable, harmonious environment. In dealing with other dogs, he shows himself to be social, adaptable, and balanced. Through his previous life in various settings, he brings a calm, tolerant energy that fosters a relaxed interaction. We very much hope that Zsömle can find a new home together with Joey. The two share a deep, silent friendship – they provide each other with security and are a well-coordinated team that understands each other instinctively. At the same time, we know it may not always be possible for both to be rehomed together. Therefore, Zsömle can also move into a suitable home alone. With loving companionship, patience, and clear structure, he will quickly settle in and gratefully embrace his second chance. 💛 Who will give this wonderful male dog a home full of peace, love, and security? Whether with Joey or on his own – Zsömle is ready to share his heart. If you are interested or have questions, we would be delighted to hear from you. A heartworm test conducted in December 2021 was negative. A Caniv 4D test will be carried out soon. Zsömle is waiting – perhaps for you.

About Zsömle B

What life with Zsömle B looks like

Zsömle B is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. in Nordwalde.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zsömle B, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zsömle B?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zsömle B on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zsömle B if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zsömle B already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zsömle B isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundepfoten Steinfurt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zsömle B and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
