Adoptujte Bootle

V centru Rudozem jsme několik měsíců krmili Bootlinu matku. Bylo zřejmé, že čeká štěňata, a po chvíli se ukázalo, že již porodila. Matka psa se bála lidí a jakkoli jsme se snažili, nikdy se nám nepodařilo získat její důvěru; svá mláďata stále držela skrytá. Nakonec začala štěňata sledovat matku do centra a postupně se od ní oddělila. Běhala po silnicích, ztracená a vyděšená. Nezbývalo nám nic jiného než je chytit a bezpečně dostat do útulku. Bootliny sourozenci byli nakonec všichni adoptováni, ale Bootle nikoliv. Dodnes se opatrně přibližuje lidem, které nezná, a trvá velmi dlouho, než si těchto lidí zvykne a začne jim důvěřovat – ale když už to dokáže, je to opravdu oplácet.

We had been feeding Bootles mother for several months in the center of Rudozem. It was obvious she was expecting puppies and after a while it became apparent that she had given birth. The mother dog was petrified of humans and no matter how much we tried, we never managed to gain her trust and she kept her babies hidden. Eventually the puppies started following her into the centre and became separated from her. They were running about in the roads, lost and scared. We had no choice but to catch them and get them safely to the shelter. Bootles siblings were all eventually adopted but Bootle never was. She is still wary of people she doesn't know and it takes a very long time for her to accept and trust you but once she does it is so rewarding.
