Nous avions nourri la mère de Bootles pendant plusieurs mois au centre de Rudozem. Il était évident qu'elle était enceinte et après un moment, il est devenu évident qu'elle avait donné naissance à des chiots. La chienne-mère était effrayée par les humains et malgré tous nos efforts, nous n'avons jamais réussi à gagner sa confiance et elle gardait ses petits cachés. Finalement, les chiots ont commencé à suivre sa mère jusqu'au centre et se sont séparés d'elle. Ils couraient dans les rues, perdus et effrayés. Nous n'avions pas le choix mais de les attraper et de les amener en sécurité au refuge. Les frères et sœurs de Bootles ont tous été adoptés mais Bootle ne l'a jamais été. Elle reste méfiante envers les personnes qu'elle ne connaît pas et il lui faut très longtemps pour accepter et faire confiance à quelqu'un, mais une fois qu'elle le fait, c'est très récompensateur.

We had been feeding Bootles mother for several months in the center of Rudozem. It was obvious she was expecting puppies and after a while it became apparent that she had given birth. The mother dog was petrified of humans and no matter how much we tried, we never managed to gain her trust and she kept her babies hidden. Eventually the puppies started following her into the centre and became separated from her. They were running about in the roads, lost and scared. We had no choice but to catch them and get them safely to the shelter. Bootles siblings were all eventually adopted but Bootle never was. She is still wary of people she doesn't know and it takes a very long time for her to accept and trust you but once she does it is so rewarding.
