Adoptar a Bootle

Habíamos estado alimentando a la madre de Bootles durante varios meses en el centro de Rudozem. Era obvio que estaba esperando cachorros y después de un tiempo se hizo evidente que había dado a luz. La perra madre tenía miedo a las personas y sin importar cuánto intentáramos, nunca logramos ganar su confianza y escondía a sus crías. Finalmente los cachorros comenzaron a seguirla al centro y se separaron de ella. Estaban corriendo por las calles, perdidos y asustados. No tuvimos más remedio que atraparlos y llevárselos seguramente al refugio. Los hermanos de Bootles fueron adoptados finalmente pero Bootle nunca lo fue. Aún es desconfiada con las personas que no conoce y le toma mucho tiempo aceptarte y confiar en ti, pero una vez que lo hace es muy gratificante.

We had been feeding Bootles mother for several months in the center of Rudozem. It was obvious she was expecting puppies and after a while it became apparent that she had given birth. The mother dog was petrified of humans and no matter how much we tried, we never managed to gain her trust and she kept her babies hidden. Eventually the puppies started following her into the centre and became separated from her. They were running about in the roads, lost and scared. We had no choice but to catch them and get them safely to the shelter. Bootles siblings were all eventually adopted but Bootle never was. She is still wary of people she doesn't know and it takes a very long time for her to accept and trust you but once she does it is so rewarding.
