Puede vivir con niños de secundaria que estén seguros alrededor de perros grandes y comprendan que puede ser un chico torpe cuando está emocionado y jugando, niños que jueguen bien con él y le den espacio para descansar cuando lo necesite. Baxter ama la atención plena, por lo tanto busca ser el único animal en el hogar; sin embargo, una vez establecido en el hogar, hay potencial para que tenga un amigo canino con quien se reúna en sus términos y que sea amable y educado. Es un muchacho muy inteligente, ya ha dominado "siéntate", "pala", "acostado" y "espera" entre otros, ama entrenarse en sesiones cortas y dulces con la ayuda de un delicioso premio. Baxter is looking for a loving family who are able to devote time and dedication to his busy and clever brain, keep up with training and take him on lots of exploring, sniffy adventures in quiet walking areas, such as private hire fields. He can live with secondary school children who are confident around larger dogs and will understand that he can be a clumsy boy when excited and playing, children who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when needed. Baxter likes your undivided attention so is looking to be the only pet in the home; however, once settled in the home, there is a potential for him to have a doggy walking friend who he can meet on his terms and who will be friendly and polite. He is a very clever lad, he has already mastered “sit”, “paw”, “down” and “wait” to name just a few, he loves to train in short, sweet sessions with the help of a tasty treat. Baxter will need to be kept on a lead at all times in public, so does need his own private, secure garden to potter and play in and have some off lead time. Baxter can get a little worried being left alone, he could be left for up to 1-2 hours if he is kept busy with some enrichment and after a walk so he can settle down and have a snooze, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Baxter will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home with potential home visits to make sure that he is settling in nicely so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted. Handsome and busy boy Baxter is a 4 year old German Wirehaired Pointer who is just bursting with joy! He loves toys, his favourite is always a tennis ball, he will bound around after them with all the bouncy, goofy energy of a puppy. He’s always up for an outdoor adventure and you’ll usually find him with his nose to the ground, sniffing anything interesting he can find (but don’t worry, he’ll always pause to make sure you’re right behind him). Heads up if you’re walking near water: Baxter cannot resist a splash, so whether it’s a muddy puddle, a paddling pool, a stream, or even the sea, he’s diving straight in! This affectionate sweetheart just wants your company and your cuddles. Scratching his back is the way to his heart and if you find the perfect spot, he’ll melt into a wiggly, hilarious puddle.
