Rusty a été remis à nous au refuge pour animaux de Calvià, avec son ami chien. La famille quitte l'île à la fin du mois. Le chien senior fidèle a eu onze ans en mars. Rusty est extrêmement mignon, tout simplement adorable, très affectueux et toujours à la recherche de proximité, de protection et d'attention. Il aime les personnes et le contact avec elles, il aime les enfants (qui comprennent déjà les chiens) et semble ne pas avoir de problème avec les chats. Malheureusement, son état physique n'est pas bon pour l'instant. Il a de grandes difficultés à marcher avec ses pattes arrière. Et pourtant il veut encore bouger. Il veut être là et vouloir être proche de son soignant. Rusty a rapidement développé sa confiance en nous, mais il a beaucoup de difficultés avec la nouvelle situation au refuge. Et bien sûr, il souffre beaucoup des nuits froides, qui sont également très dures pour ses articulations. Il a une très bonne relation avec son ami chien Pedrin, mais pourrait évidemment aussi aller dans une maison adaptée seul – car il n'est pas du tout à la hauteur de son ami chien plus jeune et incroyablement actif. Nous aimerions tellement trouver une maison adaptée ou un foyer permanent, idéalement sur l'île – car nous voulons évidemment éviter qu'il n'effectue un long voyage. Rusty n'a pas vraiment connu beaucoup de choses dans sa vie et n'a pas besoin de rattraper cela maintenant. Sécurité, un endroit chaud, confortable et absolument au sol, beaucoup d'attention et de proximité, de bons repas et simplement appartenir – c'est ce que Rusty a besoin, et c'est ce que nous voulons tellement pour lui. Une chose est certaine – il donnera à ses humains un incroyable retour 🙏…

Rusty was handed in to us at the animal shelter in Calvià, together with his dog buddy. The family is leaving the island at the end of the month. The loyal senior dog turned eleven years old in March. Rusty is incredibly adorable, just lovely, very affectionate and always looking for closeness, protection and attention. He loves people and contact with them, he likes children (who already understand dogs) and seems to have no problem with cats. Unfortunately, his physical condition is anything but good at the moment. He has great difficulty walking with his hind legs. And yet he still wants to move around. He wants to be there and wants to be close to his carer. Rusty has built up trust in us very quickly, but he is having great difficulty with the new situation at the shelter. And of course he is suffering a lot from the cold nights, which are also very hard on his joints. He has a very good relationship with his dog buddy Pedrin, but could of course also go to a suitable home on his own – as he is no match for his younger and incredibly active dog buddy. We would so much like to find a suitable home or a permanent foster home, preferably here on the island – as we would of course like to spare him a long journey. Rusty hasn’t really experienced much in his life and he doesn’t need to make up for it now. Security, a warm, cosy and of course absolutely ground-level place, lots of attention and closeness, good food and simply belonging – that’s what Rusty needs, and that’s what we want so much for him. One thing is certain – he will give his humans an incredible amount in return 🙏…
