L'endroit n'était pas ailleurs – c'était ici tout du long. Pepito est venu nous rendre par une femme âgée bienveillante qui adorait ses chats et faisait de son mieux pour prendre soin de tous les chats qu'elle pouvait. Comme beaucoup d'amoureux des animaux sur l'île, elle a fini par être submergée et n'a plus eu l'espace ou les ressources nécessaires pour s'occuper de Pepito et de son frère. Les deux chatons sont arrivés vers 8 à 9 semaines – trop petits pour rejoindre en toute sécurité notre colonie de chats errants. Ils ont donc été placés en famille d'accueil par l'une de nos bénévoles, où Pepito a immédiatement formé un lien spécial avec leur chien, Luno. Les trois sont devenus inséparables et Pepito a rapidement appris que le monde pouvait être à la fois sûr et plein d'amour. Le frère de Pepito a été adopté, mais Pepito lui-même n'a jamais trouvé un foyer traditionnel. Au lieu de cela, il a trouvé quelque chose tout aussi significatif : un endroit où il appartenait vraiment. La Cave House est devenue son monde, sa zone de confort et sa famille. Même après que la bénévole qui l'avait accueilli ait déménagé, Pepito a choisi de rester et jusqu'à aujourd'hui, on peut encore le trouver là-bas, accueillant joyeusement les bénévoles, demandant des câlin et acceptant tous les friandises qu'on lui offre. Affectionné, doux et infiniment charmant, Pepito a touché le cœur de nombreux bénévoles au fil des années. Il n'a peut-être pas trouvé un foyer en dehors du sanctuaire, mais il a créé sa propre version de foyer – remplie de stabilité, d'amitié et d'amour.

Home wasn’t elsewhere – it was here all along. Pepito came to us from a kind older woman who adored her cats and tried her very best to care for as many as she could. Like so many animal lovers on the island, she became overwhelmed and eventually no longer had the space or resources to care for Pepito and his sibling. The two kittens arrived at around 8–9 weeks old – far too small to safely join our free-roaming cat colony. Instead, they went into foster with one of our volunteers, where Pepito immediately formed a special bond with their dog, Luno. The three became inseparable and Pepito quickly learned that the world could be both safe and loving. Pepito’s sibling was adopted, but Pepito himself never found a traditional home. Instead, he found something just as meaningful: a place where he truly belonged. The Cave House became his world, his comfort zone, and his family. Even after the volunteer who fostered him moved on, Pepito chose to stay and to this day, he can still be found there, happily greeting volunteers, asking for cuddles, and accepting any treats he’s offered. Affectionate, gentle, and endlessly charming, Pepito has touched the hearts of countless volunteers over the years. He may not have found a home outside of the sanctuary, but he has created his own version of home – one filled with stability, friendship, and love.
